Right-Wing Hollywood

March 9, 2010

I went to the movies the other night and saw “The Wolfman”. While I don’t predict it is going to win an Oscar, it was an entertaining update of a good story. I enjoy almost anything Anthony Hopkins does. I also enjoy when Hollywood comes out with a good remake. If the story is good, it can be told a hundred different ways.
Hey, here’s something else the conservative lie machine serves up and conservative voters wolf down without question or a second thought: Hollywood is part of the Liberal Elite Telling Regular Americans What to Do.
I suppose what they mean are actors like Matt Damon who think about something other than the obscene amounts of money they make, actors who believe that they can use their fame to draw attention to a cause, actors who donate time and money to making a difference in the lives of others or the environment. I suppose that’s what they mean.
They could not mean the films and television shows that come out of Hollywood. They could not mean shows like “The Apprentice”, “Thomas the Tank Engine” or “24”. Certainly they can’t mean movies like “Grand Torino”, “We Were Soldiers”, or “The Pursuit of Happyness”. They can’t mean that, because those all showcase conservative ideology.

Evil Emperor, K. Rupert Murdoch

They most assuredly don’t mean any media outlet owned by Rupert Murdoch, such as Faux News, News Corp., Intermix Media (MySpace), the FX channel and the movie giant 20th Century Fox.
And, or course, they can’t mean the talk radio industry.
They must mean those liberal actors and film makers that are always sticking their liberal noses into politics and force feeding us their Marxist messages. That must be what they mean. Of course it is, but it’s a lie – A Big Fat Lie.

Hollywood is no more liberal than the rest of America, and probably less so. It’s part of the lie to get Americans to believe that liberals are controlling their lives.
Sure some actors are probably more liberal than most – they know a gay person or two, they probably belong to the SAG union, they might even be one of those intellectual college graduates.
But don’t forget that Hollywood is, after all, a bastion of that most conservative of institutions, the free-market corporation. Producers, production companies, advertisers are money-making entities. If a movie seems to have a liberal slant, it is because it makes money, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. But, obviously, Hollywood, with its roots in capital, its glorification of guns and money, certainly isn’t part of some leftist conspiracy to subvert America.

It’s part of the absurd lie to get Americans to believe that liberals are trying to control their lives.

In fact, I have a small exercise for you. Name as many sure-fire liberals in Hollywood as you can. I’m talking about people who have publicly made known that they are liberal. Quick, don’t think too much about it. How many can you come up with? Now, I gave you one, Matt Damon. That’s okay, you can use him. So, how many did you come up with? Five? Six? Twenty? For you cons reading, it always sounds so believable and logical when Beck or Limbaugh talks about it. Shouldn’t you be able to name a lot more?
And liberals in Hollywood are not the only ones who talk about their beliefs. Many conservative celebrities go public with their politics. They speak at Republican National

Grammer and Miller share vocations and politics

Conventions, they star in movies like “An American Carol” and they appear on conservative talk shows like “The Dennis Miller Show”

I’ve prepared a list of known conservatives in the entertainment industry. But I caution you, I hope you have some time to kill as this could take a while.
Of course, this list is not all-inclusive, and I got my list by compiling names from strictly conservative sources. The first list is made of entertainers and below that one is the list of executives and film makers in Hollywood that are cons.

Wow – congratulations on an amazing piece of work there. That’s one impressive list!

There’s another point that’s rarely made – actors, designers, creative people of all types – artists, dancers, on and on and on . . . by their nature are liberal. One almost must be liberal – at least socially liberal – to reach one’s creative side. These people are not just creative, they are drawn to express themselves creatively. And in the expression of their art, we come to know them – on the screen, on the stage etc.

I’ll bet most of the people on your list, while Republican or whatever, are also far more socially liberal than their political brethren.

You’re right, of course. I didn’t want to get into that, as it could be a large post in and of itself.

  2. March 11, 2010 1:42 am

Ya no kidding – you make some very useful points. But you address the politics of the individuals working in the industry. Perhaps even more telling would be to look closely at the scripts and narratives embedded in the movies (and, as you mention, television shows like “24”) that American are spoonfed.

I haven’t seen the Wolfman yet, so I can’t comment on that. But the majority of the movies we see these days embody or reinforce an American ethos of hyperindividualism, exceptionalism, I’m the superhero, I have the power to beat up the bag guys and will use it to the good of mankind (which I get to decide), I am good they are bad, the world is not complex, the bad guys are all evil, etc. These might as well be addressing the Iraq war, since they all seem like apologies for the sort of aggressive foreign interventions bellicose American administrations seem to love. They are only a shade more nuanced than the more overtly ideological cold war scripts featuring Chuck Norris or Sylvester Stallone. The Book of Eli is a prime example, but in the end so is a superficially liberal movie like Avatar (see my review here:

    http://politicalcrumbs.wordpress.com/2010/02/15/avatar-my-review-a-horrible-movie-highly-worth-seeing/ )

    Interesting read.

LOL you tried to debate the Mad Jewess.

She’s going to be on the news some day…

In a bad way? I hope you meant when you said “tried to debate” that it is impossible to debate with a non-rational person. Thanks for the visit and the comment

I’m more than happy to take people off this list of shame. I got the names from right wing sources and only if they were named in at least 2 sources. If you have more information and can help me make this more accurate, please fill me in.

OMG – where is the Mad Jewess these days? Haven’t run into her lately.

      • June 7, 2010 12:32 am

Haven’t seen her around in a while either. She banned me from commenting on her site because I was trying to actually have a rational discussion. I think she needs medication.

Well of course you can. You have missed the point. The point is that the conservative claim about the “liberal” hollywood establishment is a myth. My list was also partial and only as long as it was to make the point about the myth. I’m sure your list could be much longer too. There is a lie being pushed on the American public about liberals being entrenched in public institutions such as Hollywood, the media, colleges, etc. I’m sure there are liberals and conservatives in every walk of life.

Most of those on your list are musicians, authors, and there are several athletes on there. Here’s the list without the musicians, authors and athletes (since we’re talking Hollywood here). It should also be noted that there are several conservatives on his list, people who are NOT verifiable as liberals (he has RONALD REAGAN ON HIS LIST), and also people who have nothing to do with entertainment at all (John Glenn). So I’m removing all that crap so we can see his REAL list.

Your statistics are way off. I’ve been in entertainment – theatre. I know first hand how liberal the entertainment industry is. I can name hundreds and hundreds of performers that are liberal, super liberal, and just off the charts psycho liberal.

You would think that money would be some sort of incentive for liberals in Hollywood to make movies that make more money. You would be WRONG. Liberals in Hollywood continue to put liberal slants on movies, even though they KNOW that PG movies, family movies, PG-13 movies, conservative themed movies, ect. indeed make MORE money. Oh, no…not Hollywood. They continue to make R movies. So, please spare us your “facts” because, they are not based in any logic. You need to do some real research.

Hollywood is not about representing capitalism in the slightest. They’ve been losing money for years and years. If they wanted to represent supply and demand, they would give the public what we’ve been wanting for a long time – decent, family-type movies that we can watch in front of our children, and not have some political message shoved down our throat.

I think it’s sad that you are presenting your blog as something that is exposing supposed “lies” from the right but, you’re lying yourself, in order to do this. How pathetic.

Oh, and BTW you have dead person on your list. How lovely.

The Olsen twins are NOT conservative. With the exception of very few, most of these folks are not really even working in the entertainment industry. Their careers are long and gone.

Dick Clark? Yeah, real HUGE influence on the Hollywood scene! LMFAO!!!

As far as “24,” I am a big fan and have watched all 8 seasons. The show is written by a few Republicans and democrats but, they make an effort, as they always have, to show the “other side” of the story. If you haven’t watched (I’m thinking you haven’t based on your statement), then, you really should. Nasty Jeneane Garafolo was cast on that show! Do you think a “liberal” show would cast a conservative? Someone like Ann Coulter?

Most of these people have no influence and the ones that are still active like, Britney Spears, she doesn’t go around campaigning for Republicans. She was put on the list because, she said, one time, she liked Bush. Oh, and she’s from the south so, she must be some huge conservative, right? That’s not even logical.

You can like a president but, not be a part of their party. Do you know how many democrats liked Reagan? Why don’t you take a look a the electorate map of when Reagan creamed commie-Carter. Many democrats switched up for Reagan. They liked him and they voted for him, didn’t make them conservatives or Republicans. See Reagan democrats.

Liberals control Hollywood. I can’t even believe for a moment you would try and argue this fact. I know a current, conservative actor in Hollywood. He tries to avoid politics because, he will lose jobs. How tolerant, eh?

Bottom line, this post is a complete joke. You’re only making a fool of yourself by trying to prove otherwise. Why not do a post about how great you think it is that Hollywood is liberal? That would at least be something you could post and be HONEST about. Lying in order to say that others are lying loses all your credibility.

YES, I’m a right winger. I do love to hear other points of views, criticism, ect. but, when folks are just lying, like many do on the left, I just feel a sadness for you. Maybe it’s you that’s been lied to?

What a diatribe! Somebody LOVEs the sound of her keyboard clicking away…LOL Perhaps she lives in an alternative universe, or maybe she doesn’t own a TV, Radio, read newspapers or go to the movies as with a few exceptions I recognized every single name as being in the entertainment industry. Just because people are dead doesn’t mean they weren’t conservative when alive. And, she’s obviously a conservative judging by the closed mind she so obviously possesses. I really liked your article, you made many good points and pointed out some conservatives that I wish you hadn’t…Gary Cooper? NO! Ah well, thanks and I’ll definitely be bookmarking your blog.

      • November 28, 2010 12:48 pm

I think identifying a conservative by your perception of his or her “closed mind” is incredibly opinionated and equally closed-minded without examples. The point is, although there are
conservatives in Hollywood, the Liberals are certainly very vocal, to the “fore,” and organize
themselves in many cause-oriented events. The “lists” given attempt to show that there are
just as many if not more conservatives than liberals by listing actors going back into the 40’s.
I would ask, how are conservatives in Hollywood coming together, making political statements,
making political headlines as a group, and matching the Hollywood Left in their support for
        left-wing “causes.”

My other fraught with this article is to suggest that there is a conservative “Lie.” In order for there to be a lie, the conservatives making this lie, would have to agree with the premise of this article and knowingly give false information about conservatives and liberals in Hollywood. My contention is that conservatives do, indeed, believe that there is an over representation of liberalism in Hollywood. Hence, the word “lie” is misleading.

        • November 29, 2010 2:17 am

the point of the article is to show that there are many conservatives in hollywood. It is no secret that the vast majority of artistic types are liberal. I’m not saying that they aren’t. However, there are many cons in hollywood that are making a statement. Fred thompson, dennis miller, anyone who appeared in An American Carol. Gary Senise and others have organized a right-wing group that does film festivals and is politically active – so your supposition that they are unorganized or aren’t active is wrong.
There is a Conservative Lie. Here’s a fact for you. Grover Norquist and others at “think” tanks send out daily e-mails to right wing talk show hosts with a list of talking points. How’s that?

          • December 2, 2010 3:10 pm

How does that support the premise of a “Conservative Lie?”

        • February 26, 2012 7:37 am

I hate to be a grammar Nazi, but my mother taught English in college. Fraught can be an adjective in present day English with the meaning you were going for but not a noun or a verb. The use of fraught as a noun or a verb would be chiefly Scottish and as a verb or noun would mean cargo. Now you can all throw verbal darts at me.

    • December 2, 2010 2:53 pm

I don’t see any more anger and insult in this thread than any of the others.
I guess calling Conservative’s liars is okay; Hence the title of the article.

      • February 26, 2012 7:39 am

You wouldn’t. Conservatives do not see what they do not want to see. That is one of their special magic powers, along with being right all the time, and being the only ones that God actually loves. They have lots of other ones, too. Just ask one.

A quote from Slavoj Zizeks article on Camerons “Avatar”:

Cameron’s superficial Hollywood Marxism (his crude privileging of the lower classes and caricatural depiction of the cruel egotism of the rich) should not deceive us. Beneath this sympathy for the poor lies a reactionary myth, first fully deployed by Rudyard Kipling’s Captains Courageous. It concerns a young rich person in crisis who gets his (or her) vitality estored through brief intimate contact with the full-blooded life of the poor. What lurks behind the compassion for the poor is their vampiric exploitation.

I’m not sure Leslie Nielsen is actually a conservative. I’ve heard some people say he’s expressed left-of-center views. You might be confused by the fact that his late brother, Erik Nielsen, was the Conservative MP for the Yukon Territory in Canada and briefly served as acting leader of their Conservative Party. Leslie, by contrast, has spoken out against the free-trade deals that were negotiated by the Conservative government in the 1980’s.

    • February 26, 2012 7:52 am

Conservatives claimed him, but I have been able to find no evidence whatsoever that he was actually conservative. Bear in mind that being a conservative in his day was a far different thing than what that entails today. Ronald Reagan would actually be too liberal for the current crowd, however much they pretend he is a saint. Eisenhower was a great Republican and a very decent man. He was not, however, terribly conservative at all. In the same way, I find it more difficult to fault older people for being Republicans because they have been Republicans when intelligent, respectable people controlled the party. The GOP has been taken over by a bunch of RWNJs. Decent Republicans, like my cousins, are leaving the fold. Independents, like I used to be have been shoved towards the Democratic party by the ridiculous nature of the GOP due to the infolding of Tea Party and fundamentalists. Even my parents, in their 70s and 80s, were embarrassed by and tired of Bush the second by the end of his term. Like any good Republican, they have little memory. My step-mom has already started putting Bush back on a pedestal since she has President Obama to compare with him. Did I say she is a racist. She actually discussed miscegenation with me and how awful it is and how she could never have married a person of mixed race and had children with them and how mixed race people are an abomination and it is “not fair to the children.” My father’s father was half-Cherokee and his mother was mostly British in ancestry, and my mother was part Lipan Apache, part Scott (originally Viking), part Irish, and part British, and I believe possibly more including the possibility of relatively close African origin (1700-1800s). I had to ask her who she thought I should breed with and how I should go about accessing pedigrees to find my perfect match. That is how conservatives think. That is why they *are* the joke and therefore they have trouble *telling* the joke.

I just watched “Gold Diggers of 1933” starring Dick Powell and Ginger Rogers (among others) and am sad to see they’re right-wingers. (I am not. In any case, I’m Canadian, so it’s irrelevant.) Made me think that right-wing actors often get cast in left-wing films, just as left-wing actors get cast in right-wing films. I would be curious to see a hyperlink for each name that connected to the stories behind their inclusion on the list. Is it just a casual stated preference for Reagan or Bush, or speaking at rallies, or fundraising, or running for election. Is Gary Sinise listed as a conservative because he played George Wallace in a movie? The more interesting people are the ones that cross over, like Heston and Elia Kazan, or like Merle Haggard.

    • September 3, 2010 11:50 pm

I don’t know that I’d have the time to make those links, but I can speak to gary sinise. Despite his horrendous political views, he is one of my favorite actors and a cousin to a friend of mine. Sinise is a very active conservative and is one of a group of hollywood insiders who run a conservative film festival.

      • September 4, 2010 2:13 pm

I’d venture to add that it’s conservatives who seem to classify actors by the roles they play labeling htem liberals if they play explicitly liberal characters. Not seen it the other way around.

    • December 2, 2010 3:08 pm

George Wallace was not a conservative in any of his politics. He was emblematic of the Democrat South and a long history of Democrat opposition of Civil Rights. A calculation of 26 major civil rights votes from 1933 through the 1960’s civil rights era shows that Republicans and conservatives favored civil rights in approximately 96% of the votes, whereas the Democrats opposed them in 80% of the votes.

      • February 26, 2012 7:57 am

The times they are a-changing, aren’t they. Have you noticed. Nowadays, most of the South is Republican. The racists switched sides because they were not getting their way in the Democratic party. I see the GOP and Tea Party are getting along swimmingly now. Bear in mind that the people you are identifying as conservatives then were Republicans, but they were not socially conservative. The Southern Democrats of whom you speak were not socially liberal, either. Don’t conflate the terms conservative and Republican and/or liberal and Democrat. They are not the same thing.

Here is a quote from one of the published comments above:
” Here’s a fact for you. Grover Norquist and others at “think” tanks send out daily e-mails to right wing talk show hosts with a list of talking points. How’s that?”

This is a fact because… you wrote it? From where did you get this information (ie; does it have a left-wing orientation?); is it credible? How do you know that “others” at think tanks send our these talking points?
Who are these “others?” I do not think that Michael Medved, Mark Lavine, and Rush Limbaugh need
to be told what to talk about… If so, it’s not working. They are rarely discussing the same thing during
    any given week.

Here’s a fact for you… don’t believe everything you read. It may be incorrect.

I listen to the three talk show host I mentioned. I maintain that they do not get their instructions from think tanks and congress. If such comes across their desks, I doubt they pay much attention to it. Medved was discussing culture this week. Rush, the Federal Reserve, taxes, and what the Obama administration is doing about the recession. Mark Lavine mainly focuses on congressional politics and if Obama has really “gotten” the message from the election results.

I can send you links that discuss the apparent order from the Obama justice department that dropped the charges on the New Black Panther movement and voter intimidation due to racial matters. I don’t think it would mean much to you that it was written some where.

I learned last year that the “Reverend” Farrakhan claims that there is a giant “Mother Wheel” circling the earth from space, ready to take up all black people.
During the period of time that I haven’t heard of this… it was written somewhere.
Does that mean Farrakhan would of had a stronger argument at the time, because I have not heard of it? Flawless logic.

Just found this site and have seen the names in other lists before. Can’t help but noticing that many of the people listed are long dead and more than quite a few of the living ones are libertarians. Kurt Russell, Bruce Willis and plenty of others hold to this point of view and are NOT conservatives. There is often an overlap with conservatives in economic policy and liberal/left-wingers in social policy. If the list only consisted of living conservatives it would be whittled down significantly.

The fact is that there have been a number of polls and studies into the entertainment industry and it is overwhelmingly on the Left. News stories also tilt to the Left. While you can point to Fox News as leaning to the Right, you neglected MSNBC, CNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, the Spanish-language media, MTV, etc, that have a far greater presence in the media than one new channel and consistently shill for the Left. A vast majority of movies and TV shows that express a political point of view criticize conservative individuals and policies while supporting liberal-Left ones. Been plenty of studies on this too. See the various books by Lichter and Rothman, for example.

Also couldn’t help but notice the attack on Murdoch, but shows on his network often criticize conservatives and their ideas, so the claim that just because a network owner is conservative doesn’t mean his shows are. A few examples that come to mind are The Simpsons, Family Guy and Glee. There are plenty more. Meanwhile, do CBS, NBC or ABC have any conservative shows? Not that I can think of. Moreover, I seem to recall that Ted Turner was a network mogul who wasn’t conservative. What about Mort Zuckerman? What about Sam Zell? What about the owners of the New York Times, Washington Post, etc? I could go on but I think my point has been made.

Rick, here’s a small example of “liberal” NBC. Its evening newscast the night of Sen. Sanders
EIGHT-HOUR tutorial against the tax-cut “compromise” called him a “self-described socialist”,
and showed only Clinton’s support of it during the Obama news conference.
And now the MSM is telling us to tighten our belts to pay for it.
We’ve been getting too many freebies

(And let’s not forget all those months Iraqi war critics were kept off the newscasts)

    • Rick permalink

Yes, I agree that there has been less criticism of the Iraqi War since Obama has been president. The playbook is to put out fewer people critical of presidential policies when the president is a Democrat. Take the Reagan-Bush (I) years. Remember there were tons of news stories about the homeless. Once Clinton/Gore got in, no more homeless stories. What happened to them? Did they suddenly find places to live? No, it was part of the dominant media’s agenda to exclude negative policy stories when there’s a Democrat in office.

Since we’re on the subject of news, ever notice the choice of labeling? News stories that give the party of the Republican and not the Democrat, or using the terms “right-wing” but the same story has “left-leaning” for the opponent. I see it all the time in the New York Times and especially Associated Press stories.

Another thing I recall was best exemplified by “The Bill Maher Show.” Typically out of three guests one would be conservative, so the liberal side had three representatives to one conservative. Not exactly fair, is it? Do shows still do this? Check out “The View.” How many conservatives out of five panelists? One. And when they have liberal guests they get easy soft-ball questions, direct opposite of the kind of treatment conservatives get. This is show’s format so it’s not just occasional misbehavior.

Who on here agrees with one or both of the statements below?

“The Constitution is a living document.”
“From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.”

Before I became engaged and started studying the ideology of both camps, I would have said I agree with both statements. Partially because I did not fully understand what either one truly meant and because I was uninformed and I usually regurgitated things that I did not learn on my own.

Free your minds of right, left, conservative, liberal, fascism, socialism, etc. It really boils down to individualism vs. collectivism.

Maybe these videos will help some of you determine what you truly believe in. You may be surprised.

I read your article out of curiosity.
I found myself agreeing with some things and disagreeing with other things. I agree that “Hollywood” is not trying to spew its liberal ideology all over America. However, as a conservative, I notice that there is a liberal biase in the majority of entertainment. I’m used to the Mainstream media being left winged and liberal biased; however, it bothers me that something as simple as a “Cartoon” would stoop to the level of pushing liberal political views on to kids. I’m referring to Seth McFarland’s primetime cartoons, “Family Guy” and “American Dad”. Family guy has a FLAMING liberal dog, who openly talks about being an atheist and having a gay cousin. American Dad pokes fun at Conservative Americans while pushing the liberal agenda. CBS had a televsion show called “New Adventures of Old Christine” which had EXTREME LEFT wing writers for the show. There were always subjects of Health Care; Gay Marriage; Divorce and even illegal immigration. But rather than talk about “all points” of the subjects, they did nothing but glorify the need for universal health care. They advocated for Gay Marriage and even illegal immigration. These are not subjects that are to be put into our entertainment shows. These are subjects that are to be left up the individual to decided who they want to view them. But when my 13 and 14 year old were watching Family Guy or “New Christine” They were told these things. I will admit, it did give my children and I something to discuss extensively. And just as you would forbid your children to watch FoxNews, I put a stop to Seth McFarland’s cartoons and was glad when “Christine” was taken off the air. I thank God David Letterman is on as late as he is. I wouldn’t want to have to add another block to the television.

David Letterman, The Daily Show, Bill Maher, The Colbert Report…. These are all “extremely” liberal biased shows and they’re all pushing a liberal message. In your BLOG you tell us that it is just the actors who are expressing their views. However, when a show about a Conservative tried to air, it was cancelled by midseason. I’m referring to “$#*! My Dad Says” starring William Shatner. Given the chance, the show ‘could’ have done well; however, the network’s “Left” did not agree with the shows “conservative view” and it was cancelled.

You, as a liberal leftist can look at things in your own way and report on them to support that view. We, on the Right will see things in our own way and will report on them to support our view. It’s how it has been ever since the inception of “Republican” and “Democrat” and it’s how it will always be. The LEFT will never come to terms with the RIGHT, nor will the RIGHT ever submit and give in to the LEFT. This is why MSNBC will always be at odds with FoxNews. MSNBC and CNN all carry a heavy Liberal Biase, while FoxNews is a more Conservative based new organization. The LEFT will continue to call FoxNews “Faux” and the RIGHT will continue to referr to MSNBC as PMSnbc. Public Radio and Public Television will always be seen as a waste of tax payers’ money to the RIGHT and NPR will always represent something of value to the LEFT. You can not have good without bad. You can not have BLACK without WHITE and you certainly can not have LEFT without RIGHT.

Even though I agree with your right to voice your opinion and I commend you for doing such research and generating a list of actors that “I” can appreciate; I will not ever agree with your political views. I will not ever agree with your translation of things. But that’s what is so great about being an American and living in the great country. We have the freedom to voice those opinions and to give others the option to agree or disagree. But let us keep those opinions our of our entertainment and leave it to our news organizations. Cartoons should be silly and funny – not a political soap box.

    • Heywood Jablome permalink
      July 23, 2011 8:04 pm

You is right Stich… However, while we are all entitled to our opinions and the right to give voice to such, let’s agree to call a (david) spade a spade and a lie a lie. There is no systemic liberal bias in hollywood or the media. There are instances of such, but not as a whole. The right, in spite of repeated studies to the contrary, continue to spout that which is not true. When I was a kid, I was taught that practice is called “LYING”. MSNBC has strongly left editorial and opinion shows between their straight unbiased news programming. Fox news, on the other hand, cannot be called anything other than a right-wing propaganda machine, and has admitted as much.

      • Anonymous permalink
        July 25, 2011 1:40 pm

Then you must be lying because Hollywood is overwhelmingly liberal-Left and it does spout Left-wing points of view through films and television. It has been less successful on the radio because radio is more susceptible to market forces. There is only one network that airs non-religious conservative programming on a regular basis, and that is FNC. Compare and contrast to ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, MTV, VH1, BET, BBC, etc. Moreover, FNC’s news shows are separate from its opinion shows. On its political stories it does bring in people from different positions on the political spectrum. Also, as a previous poster noted, many programs on on the FOX TV network are liberal-Left to Far-Left.

Does Mr Conservative Lie claim that the proportion of Left-wingers is equal to conservatives? That is without going back to the 1930s-1950s. Yes, Hollywood was more conservative then, but since the 1960s it has been dominated by Left-wingers. If you were to revise your list to make it accurate (by removing dead people and moderates, for example), it would be much smaller. Then count how many of them are working actors. A very small group indeed. Unless one is established their not going to get much work. The Hollywood Left-wing has its own (unofficial) Black List. How many outspoken conservatives have parts on major television shows? On the Far-Left Janeanne Garofalo is now on CSI and Alec Baldwin and Tiny Fey on 30 Rock. Both Garofalo and Baldwin were hosts on failed Left-wing radio network AIR America. Give a comparative example on the right (if you can, please do this without going into ancient history). Gary Sinise, by the way, is not outspoken on his politics. He states what his views are but mostly stands up for soldiers and vets.

How are conservatives portrayed on most television shows? Either stupid and/or evil. How are liberals/Left-wingers portrayed? Intelligent and idealistic. You may like it, but is it FAIR? Obviously it is not. Even on shows where there are some conservative cast members, like Law & Order, the scripts go through the usual stereotypic portrayals.

BTW, let’s not forget print journalism, since it is often the source for televised news and opinion programs. Polls and studies have shown it be around 90% liberal-Left with almost an equal amount voting Democrat.

Jay Leno a right winger? Are you insane? He’s a typical liberal Democrat. I don’t know anything about David Spade’s politics, but if you think so-called Latino bashing is a “right-wing” trait, you’re just wrong. Left-wingers bash on Latinos all the time. The right is primarily concerned with illegal immigration, which is primarily composed of Mexicans (that is a fact — illegals can come from all over the world, but the largest country that contributes to the problem is Mexico). Politically the Left (especially Left-wing Latinos) likes to group legal immigrants with illegal immigrants and then claim that those who are against illegal immigrants are against all immigrants in general. It’s a logical fallacy and politics at its worst, but that’s what Left-wingers like to do. The thing is, in private, white liberals and Left-wingers bash Mexicans and other Latinos all the time. It’s like Spike Lee’s comments against interracial marriage. Recent studies have confirmed higher rates of racism and antisemitism on the liberal-Left side of the political spectrum than the Right. And the studies weren’t from Right-wing think tanks either.

I knew these Hollywood types and other entertainers are dumb-a** reactionaries, other wise,a life-size Brett doll such as Yours Truly-a boyishly handsome,brawny-5’8″,210-220 lb., sporting 181/4? biceps-black Canadian lad would be in the movies as a leading man-with a buxom blonde girlfriend between 24 and 42-or instead of a pig,the handsome black cowboy Christie and Julie,A&E’s “Lady Hoggers” would be corralling, instead of never having a big-or-small-screen role because I don’t look, dress, sound or behave like a
side-kick to the white star/stud,pervert and/or cognitively challenged scorn or pity object,Hollywood’s 2011 “black dude role.”(Also,I’m an avide Country music,dance-EXCEPT LINE DANCING!!!!-and rodeo fan and far from the “urban” stereotype of black males,so because I belie Tinseltown’s ideas about where black men fit in-AND IT ISN’T LEADING MEN!!!!,the boys have no use for me.)
