The Politics of Hate (Kicked)

January 10, 2011

This was first published on March 29, 2010 by Dave. I am kicking it to the top again because of how prescient it is. I’d also compare this post to this current Michelle Malkin post – Malkin points to “Progressive Hate”, but the people she points to are minor criminals who happen to support a Political Party. The right wing hate machine (of which she is a major part) has become increasingly violent as a direct result of their political stance.

UPDATE: Wow, this really got those Tea Baggers’ panties in a bunch.  Must have touched a nerve.  In an effort to prove me wrong, that the right wing does not use the rhetoric of hate, I, your resident disabled combat vet of two tours was called a “coward” and a douchebag and maybe a couple of other names.  And with all the smugness only a true righty can attain I have been berated publicly and informed that the nude protesters during Bush the Lesser’s administration rise to the level of what we have seen lately from Johhny Right – no hate there.  I even tried to tell them “Hey remember that Bush/Hitler ad someone tried to submit to MoveOn.org and MoveOn immediately pulled it? They didn’t run it; they knew it was wrong.” All in all, I truly felt the warmth and a genuine sense of reaching out and trying to help me to understand their better and more correct point of view.  <— You can’t see it, but that sentence literally oozes with sarcasm.  Anyway, thanks toRightWingWatch here’s a few more links for you (though I’m sure our friends will rationalize, apologize for or deny them altogether):

Obama campaign sign replaced with rebel flag (Tea Party suggested out: “Those media whores put it there themselves!)

Obama signs burned and noose hung from tree at Baylor U. (Righty suggested out: “We kicked those guys out of the right!”)

Get your own Obama Death Threat coffee mug (Republican suggested out: “This is just good clean fun! Anyway they did discontinue the line of products urging folks to pray for his death.”)

Republican controlled Oklahoma vows to destroy evidence to thwart Fed. Hate Crime Law against Gays (Libertarian suggested out: “What Federal government?”)

Paleocons start another new magazine for Whites.  Still no sign of racist Paleolib magazine (Right-Wing Media Lap Dog suggested out: “These are just fringe elements – pay no mind to the fact that they were at CPAC, Tea Party events, etc…)

I like to put the updates right up front.  Now, on to the post:

I’m getting overwhelmed here. I began research and collecting data about the right wing use of the politics of fear and hate. There are too many examples – waaaay too many for me to include in this piece. I’m having trouble being clear and concise because they all seem so relevant to me, and because I don’t want anyone to think that I, or anyone else, have happened upon a few chance items.
For you righties out there reading this right now, I know what you’re thinking already. You’re thinking that you could come up with a list of liberals being violent and using scare tactics too. Well, you could. The difference would be that yours would truly be isolated instances, often by some lone wolf nut job. You could go the anti-war protests during Bush the Lesser’s administration. I’d stay away from the Viet Nam protests, however, as I’d have to remind you of Kent State and other instances of police brutality toward peaceful protesters. Don’t even think about the Civil Rights protesters, it will only hurt your argument.

As several readers pointed out, I mistakenly posted a picture that I understood to be Nancy Pelosi being hanged in effigy was actually a picture of Sarah Palin being hanged in effigy. My bad. However, as they would like to believe, it does not discredit my entire point. And, case in point, I've replaced it with this, the Tea Party founder proudly displaying his mindset and his spelling skills.

The right, now… The right, on the other hand, is a different story. At least, the new right – the right represented by the Tea Party, talk radio and Faux News. This new right has courted the barbarians at the gate in order to garner votes. The new right wooed the ultra-conservative to win elections based on abortion rather than on economics and policy because they were faring so poorly in those areas. The conservative lies about supply sided economic models and trickle down theories haven’t changed, but just a few decades ago weren’t winning over enough voters. Most people saw that it was big business and big finance that really benefited from those policies. And so, the right invited the barbarians to enter the gates, and now the barbarians have taken over. Any moderate republican still standing sees the writing on the wall and either gets with the new program or stands by his principles and is voted out of office.
Those who use the tool of fear and the rhetoric of violence are not fringers or extremists. They are leading the charge, and most republicans are surging along in their wake. They are political leaders like Texas Republican Randy Neugebauer, Sarah Palin and GOP chair Michael Steele. They are community activists like Mike Vanderboegh, the former leader of the Alabama Constitutional Militia, unhappy with the Health Care vote suggested to his followers around the country to throw bricks through the windows of Democrats’ offices. The following day, bricks being thrown through windows were reported across the country. They are Tea Party organizers like President and Founder Dale Robertson who arrived at one Tea Party rally with a sign with the word “Niggar [sic]” emblazoned across it. They are talk radio and television personalities like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Fred Thompson and Michael Savage. They are print journalists like Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin.
They are not on the fringe. They are the preeminent voices of the party and their voices are loud. Their messages are being heard and some of their followers are taking up the cause.
How often can talk show host Bill O’Reilly call abortion doctor George Tiller “the Baby Killer” before he become criminally liable for a man putting a gun to Tiller’s head and blowing his brains all over the church he was attending? That is the rhetoric of violence and it may not cause violence, but it begins to brew something in the environment – something that bubbles below the surface and affects people and primes them to act in ways they might not otherwise. It is the choice of words used to paint a picture and create an emotion. It is the words used by GOP chair Michael Steele when he talks about people “in the line of fire” and the imagery created by Sarah Palin when she tells voters “Don’t retreat. RELOAD!” and a map on her Facebook page showing vulnerable Democrat congressional seats in rifle crosshairs. It is the mood created by former Senator, presidential candidate and now Faux News

personality Mike Huckabee when he says members of Congress “should be tarred and feathered as the original tea partiers would have done.” And it’s the feeling people sometimes get when they read RedState.com poster Erick Ericson’s article in which he wrote, “At what point do the people … march down to their state legislator’s house, pull him outside, and beat him to a bloody pulp for being an idiot?”
And for some, rhetoric is not enough. Some have made a call to action, such as Rush Limbaugh who advocated a riot at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver.
“This is about chaos. This is why it’s called Operation Chaos! It’s not called Operation Save Hillary. It’s not called Operation Nominate Obama. It’s called Operation Chaos! The dream end… I mean, if people say what’s your exit strategery, the dream end of this is that this keeps up to the convention and that we have a replay of Chicago 1968, with burning cars, protests, fires, literal riots, and all of that. That’s the objective here,” said Limbaugh.
“The (Honduran) coup was what many of you wish would happen here, without the military. If we had any good luck, Honduras would send some people here and help us get our government back.,” he stated on his radio broadcast.
Jim Quinn of “The War Room with Quinn and Rose” said, “You have got to say no to this (Health Care Reform), and if they push this through, you need to riot in the streets. You need to riot in the streets.”
There has always been animosity between political parties in this country and sometimes those feelings have spilled over into violence, but, with the exception of the Civil War, those incidents were few, far between, universally condemned and rarely celebrated. But this is different. There is a fanning of the flames, by some for profit and by others for political gain.
Radical Imams create an environment of hate and violence among their followers by simply preaching and advocating violence. Charles Manson never physically killed anyone – he only told others to. Am I comparing Glenn Beck to Charles Manson? You bet I am, just as he compares President Obama to Hitler, only I think my analogy has more going for it.
I believe that a minority of Americans are buying into this culture of violence, and even fewer would act upon it. However, as Glenn Beck warned the progressives, “You know the American Revolution took place with 12 percent of the population? Twelve. Are you telling me there is not 30 percent of this population that – you will have to shoot me in the forehead before I…”

Additionally, there is always the “mob mentality” to take into account.  For instance, at a recent Tea Bagger Event in Columbus, Ohio, Republican against health care reform, Chris Reichert, took two dollar bills out of his pocket and yelling, “If you’re looking for a hand-out, you’re on the wrong end of town,” threw them at a Parkinson’s disease victim.  Reichert, who at first lied and claimed he did not do such a thing, later admitted he did after the video of the incident was shown on YouTube.  Reichert apologized and said he “absolutely snapped”.  I believe it.  I believe that he acted in a way that he would be too ashamed or frightened to do if not for the mob behind him.  And while Reichert’s despicable actions were not physically violent, at some point, as they have in the past, someone else is going to “absolutely snap” and pull out a gun.
Do not believe the claim some on the right are making that this is a campaign to make the Republican Party or the Tea Party look bad – they are doing that on their own. Of late, Beck, Boortz and some other on the right have taken to practically begging their followers not to engage in violence. Well, guys, this is the bed you have made. This is what you have been paid $23 million (in Beck’s case) a year to produce. This is what it looks like.
There is much more – so much more. I wanted to include it, so if your click the “Read More” button at the end of this article, you will see just a small portion of what I came across. It is text and photo heavy and may take a few seconds to load.
I’ve divided it into two sections: the first is quotes from prominent conservatives, and the second are recent acts of violence – most perpetrated against Democratic Congress persons.

Part 1 – The Rhetoric

All the pics are links

Glenn Beck:
Obama is “poking and prodding” people to commit violence. … “They need you to be violent. They are begging for it.”
“Pres. Obama is a “racist” who “has a deep-seated hatred for white people.”
“I’m thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I’m wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. … No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out. Is this wrong?” ”Every night I get down on my knees and pray that Dennis Kucinich will burst into flames.”
“The government is full of vampires, and they are trying to suck the lifeblood out of the economy.” Beck then suggested “driving a stake through the heart of the bloodsuckers.” ACORN, GE, Obama, SEIU, “you are awakening a sleeping giant, and I have nothing to do with it” and that “America is waking up
“You will have to shoot me in the forehead before I acquiesce and be silent.”
There is a coup going on. There is a stealing of America, and the way it is done, it has been done through the — the guise of an election, but they lied to us the entire time.”
“But I want you to know: Do not feel that way. The battle was lost, the war is not over. The war is just beginning.” March 22
“You’d pick up a gun? Have you ever thought of that?” He then pointed to several pictures, including images of Obama and Pelosi, and stated: “These people have. Because possibly, maybe the question should be asked, maybe they’re tired of evolution, and maybe they are waiting for revolution.” “For those of you in the administration, who are coming after me … remember, you’ve broken three [of the 10 Commandments], let’s not make it four; thou shalt not kill.” March 23

Bob Owens: “Jackasses” who call health care a right “deserve to be drawn and quartered.”
“Go to your Congressman’s office and scream at him in the most colorful language possible. Hang him in effigy at protests. If you’re willing to do the time for the crime, have a swing at him. Better yet, throw a shoe…”

Faux News Contributor Dick Morris: “Those crazies in Montana who say, ‘We’re going to kill ATF agents because the U.N.’s going to take over’ — well, they’re beginning to have a case.”

RedState.Com poster Erick Erickson: Were I in Washington State, I’d be cleaning my gun right about now waiting to protect my property from the coming riots or the government apparatchiks coming to enforce nonsensical legislation.”

Michael Savage: “”This is not going to go on in this country much longer. We’re going to have a revolution in this country”
“These people are pushing the wrong people around. “the rage has reached a boil. If they keep pushing us around, and if we keep having these schmucks running for office catering to the multicultural people who are destroying the culture of this country … guaranteed the people — the white male in particular.” [Talk Radio Network’s The Savage Nation, 8/21/09]                                         “Don’t you understand what’s at stake? …Don’t you understand the sick perverts [homosexuals] are killing all of us? …unless this is stopped, unless the gay agenda is curtailed… you’re not gonna have your own children eventually… your father would have taken a day off from pipe fitting and he would have gone in there with blood in his eyes… he would have gone crazy! …That’s how deballed you are,”                          “To fight only the al-Qaida scum is to miss the terrorist network operating within our own borders … Who are these traitors? Every rotten radical left-winger in this country, that’s who.”         “Multiculturalism has completely failed America. It is a disaster, an unmitigated disaster. Multiculturalism — as a premise that all cultures are equal and all cultures have an equal amount to contribute to the world — that’s utter hogwash! The reason my ancestors came to this country as immigrants, and the reason your immigrants — ancestors came to this country as immigrants is because of the great enterprise created by White, Anglo-Saxon Protestants. It is the greatest country ever created in the world. It is built upon the best — the best of the White, Anglo-Saxon world.    …these big-mouthed, phony scum of the ACLU, who should be rounded up, arrested for sedition. Their property seized, and they should be put into Abu Ghraib prison as far as I’m concerned. That wouldn’t be enough of what I’d like to see done to the ACLU. They’re the worst vermin America has ever tolerated. The worst vermin in the history of America are the vermin in the ACLU.”

John Perry wrote: “There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America’s military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the ‘Obama problem.’ Don’t dismiss it as unrealistic.” He added: Military intervention is what Obama’s exponentially accelerating agenda for “fundamental change” toward a Marxist state is inviting upon America. A coup is not an ideal option, but Obama’s radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible. [Newsmax.com, 9/29/09]

Jim Quinn said, “Our country was built on revolution and it’s about time we took it back. These people are dangerous,” and, “It’s about time to put an end to this leftist control of this country, and if a revolution is what it takes, damn it, then that’s what it’s going to take, because liberty will not be denied.” [The War Room with Quinn and Rose, 9/10/09]

Rep. Gregg Harper (R-MS) joked that he “hunt[s] liberal, tree-hugging Democrats, although it’s a waste of good ammunition.”  When asked about the remarks, a spokesman for Harper was unapologetic.  “It’s supposed to be fun…It’s having a good time,” he said.

Ann Coulter:  “When we were fighting communism, OK, they had mass murderers and gulags, but they were white men and they were sane. Now we´re up against absolutely insane savages.”       “Hence it is that at the present time the liberal is the great agitator for the complete destruction of America. Whenever we read of attacks against America taking place in any part of the world the liberal is always the instigator.”       ”I was going to have a few comments about John Edwards but you have to go into rehab if you use the word faggot.”         ”If I’m going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”           ”Liberals hate America, they hate flag-wavers, they hate abortion opponents, they hate all religions except Islam, post 9/11. Even Islamic terrorists don’t hate America like liberals do. They don’t have the energy. If they had that much energy, they’d have indoor plumbing by now.”

Rush Limbaugh:  ”Take that bone out of your nose and call me back. ”      ”Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it. ”

”This is no different than what happens at the Skull and Bones initiation…I’m talking about people having a good time, these people, you ever heard of emotional release? You ever heard of the need to blow some steam off? ”

Part 2 – The Result

Rep. Markey, one of the few lawmakers to change her vote from “no” last year to “yes” on Sunday, apparently received at least two separate phone calls on the Saturday before the vote.
According to reports, a caller told a staffer “better hope I don’t run into you in a dark alley with a knife, a club or a gun.”
A different caller also told a staffer something like “better tell your boss that she better be careful when she comes back here to Colorado.”

One vulnerable Democrat in the post-health care reform era is Representative Tom Perriello (D-Va.), whose support for reform has brought him continual criticism. This week, one self-styled “Tea Party organizer” posted what he thought was Perriello’s home address, encouraging people to harass the lawmaker at home. The address ended up being the home of Perriello’s brother’s family,

A brawl broke out at a Tea Bagger event protesting illegal immigration.

but the activist, Mike Troxel, took it in stride, saying, “I was a journalism major in college, so I have every reason to believe my research is accurate.” Laugh if you want, but this is precisely how the “journalism” works, circa 2010. This isn’t the first time Perriello critics have struggled with geography: back in December, Tea Partiers got all bent out of shape when they discovered that Perriello’s Charlotteville office wasn’t conveniently located in a way that facilitated their whining.
UPDATE: The call to harass Perriello and the dissemination of the incorrect address has combined to lead to something scary: a propane gas line at Perriello’s brother’s house was cut.
The FBI is reportedly investigating this. Nigel Coleman, one of the Tea Party members who posted the address online, was

“shocked” and “almost speechless” at the actions of the activists. “I obviously condemn these actions,” he said. “I would hope that people aren’t thinking about doing anything crazy. We just wanted people to get close to the congressman and have their voices heard. Violence is not going to answer anything. I’m a little shocked and amazed.” Yet Coleman also stated that the involvement of the brother and his family of four children was merely “collateral damage”, a statement with chillingly violent intent.

“In the wake of his vote in favor of health care reform legislation, Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), a strong opponent of abortion rights, has been on the receiving end of a string of extremely hostile and threatening messages, including death threats,” CBS News reports.
“Congressman Stupak, you baby-killing mother fucker… I hope you bleed out your ass, got cancer and die, you mother fucker,” one man says in a message to Stupak.
“There are millions of people across the country who wish you ill,” a woman says in a voicemail, “and all of those thoughts that are projected on you will materialize into something that’s not very good for you.”
“My wife still can’t answer the phone,” Stupak told POLITICO Tuesday. The messages are “full of obscenities if she leaves it plugged in. In my office, we can’t get a phone out. It’s just bombarded.”

In the immediate wake of the passage of health care reform, opponents reacted with dignity and maturity by calling for a fatwa on socialist windowpanes. The call went out

Anti-government Hutatree Militia arrested for consipiracy to kill police officers

from some “militia leader” named Mike Vanderboegh, who said: ““We can break their windows…Break them NOW. And if we do a proper job, if we break the windows of hundreds, thousands, of Democrat party headquarters across this country, we might just wake up enough of them to make defending ourselves at the muzzle of a rifle unnecessary.” The good news is that this is how the local window repair economy got stimulated, by Keynesians. The bad news is that Vanderboegh is telling people that “rifles are being cleaned.”
Some of those rifles are apparently being cleaned so as to threaten the children of legislators, such as Representative Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.). As WHAM in Rochester, NY reports: “Last Thursday [Slaughter] received a chilling recorded message at her campaign office. ‘Assassinate is the word they used…toward the children of lawmakers who voted yes.’”

Twitter may inevitably blow up the budget related to the Secret Service, since it allows every hothead with anger-management issues and 140 characters to spare to call for President Barack Obama to be killed. On Sunday, some idiot named Solly Forrell became internet famous for tweeting: “ASSASSINATION America, we survived the assassinations of Lincoln and Kennedy. We’ll surely get over a bullet 2 #BarackObama’s head.” He followed that up with “The next #American with a #clear #shot should drop #Obama like a bad habit.” That drew the attention of the Secret Service, naturally. And then some other jagoff named Jay Martin followed suit a day later with these rhetorical gems.
Maybe not today, but very soon! His name is Jay Martin and he has spent the evening making sure everyone on Twitter knows he is “dead fucking serious” about wishing death upon Barack Obama. Updated with comment from Martin
Earlier today you met Solly Forrell, the conservative blogger now under investigation by the Secret Service for threatening Obama on Twitter. Well, here’s another Twitter user helping to keep the Secret Service busy with his own death threats. According to his Facebook page, Jay Martin graduated from Vatterott College last year with an IT degree and currently resides in Federal Way, WA. His About Me Page says: “Socially aware, Deep thinker, Artistic, Hip Hop Aficionado, free thinker, Funny Guy.” Oh, and he really, seriously, honestly, wants to kill President Barack Obama. (Thanks for the add, Jay!)
It started with this dispatch from Martin’s Twitter account, inspired by last night’s health care vote:

  • After a bunch of users were like, WTF? Are you serious? Martin responded:
  • But, like, seriously, Jay Martin. Do you REALLY want to kill Barack Obama? Please erase all doubt from our mind:

Consider some of the signs that were held by teabag protestors:

At a Madison, Wisconsin teabag rally: “Obama Is the anti-Christ!” “Obama’s Plan – White Slavery.”

Those friendly and inviting Tea Baggers
  • In Chicago: “The American Taxpayers Are The Jews For Obama’s Ovens.”
  • Philadelphia: “Barack Hussein Obama – The New Face of Hitler.”
  • Fresno, California: “Impeach Osama Obama a.k.a. Hussein.”
  • In Columbia, S.C., an elderly man held a large sign which read “Barack Obama supports Abortion, Sodomy, Socialism and The New World Order.”
  • At a Washington, DC protest, one man held a sign which read “Stand idly by while some Kenyan tries to destroy America? WAP!! I don’t think so!!! Homey don’t play dat!!!”

Lyndsey Stauble, the executive director of the Sedgwick County Democratic Party in Wichita, KS also spoke about the attacks on her offices. “There’s glass everywhere, a brick took out the whole floor-to-ceiling window and put a gouge in my desk”, she said, noting that the brick had some anti-Obama rhetoric” written on it. Offices in Rochester, NY and Niagara Falls, NY have been the target of brick-related incidents as well; over the weekend, bricks crashed through the windows of both offices, one with a note that said, “Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice” — a quote from Barry Goldwater’s 1964 acceptance speech as the Republican presidential candidate.

…the shooter, Jim David Atkisson,  an avid listener of Michael Savage killed 2 and injured 7.  Before the shooting spree he left behind a suicide note, which says, among other things:

Lately I’ve been feeling helpless in our war on Terrorizm (sic). But I realized I could engage the terrorists allies here in America. The best allies they’ve got. The Democrats! The democrats have done everything they can do to tie our hands in this war on terror. They’re all a bunch of traitors…

The worst problem America faces today is Liberalism… the Major News outlets have become the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party. Liberals are evil, they embrace the tenets of Karl Marx, they’re Marxist, socialist, communists…

PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities say the Tucson, Ariz., congressional office of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was vandalized a few hours after the House vote overhauling the nation’s health care system.
Someone either kicked or shot out a glass door and side window of the office early Monday, but it did not appear that anyone entered the office. Authorities are looking into whether a pellet gun was used.
The source of the attacks can be traced back to Mike Vanderboegh of Pinson, Alabama, a former leader of the Alabama Constitutional Militia who put out a call for modern “Sons of Liberty” to break the windows of Democratic Party offices.

Can we forget the blood-lust at the McCain-Palin rallies, in which crowd participants called Obama a terrorist and a traitor, carried around Obama monkey dolls and called for his death? During the 2008 presidential campaign, then-candidate Obama received more threats than any other candidate in recent memory, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. Moreover, several white supremacists were arrested for plotting to assassinate him or threatening to do so.

in the first place when Lott made those statements Obama was in the Illinois Senate not the US Senate. So even though he didn’t care for Lott’s statements, whether or not Lott stayed……..it was not Obama’s decision to make.

And second, Lott’s statements were not necessarily about race. He was praising a man who thought segregation was a good thing! Look up Lott’s actual words, he did not even mention race.

Reid made a mistake by saying what he did but it was in no way, the same as what Lott said in praising Thurmond.

Um, that’s a Sarah Palin dummy being hanged in your picture above:

The Westoboro Baptist church freaks are Democrats:

    Democratic Party

Phelps has run in various Kansas Democratic Party primaries five times, but has never won. These included races for governor in 1990, 1994, and 1998, receiving about 15 percent of the vote in 1998.[57] In the 1992 Democratic Party primary for U.S. Senate, Phelps received 31 percent of the vote.[58] Phelps ran for mayor of Topeka in 1993[59] and 1997.[60]
    Support for Al Gore

Phelps supported Al Gore in the 1988 Democratic Party primary election.[61] In his 1984 Senate race, Gore opposed a “gay bill of rights” and stated that homosexuality was not something that “society should affirm”.[62] Phelps has stated that he supported Gore because of these earlier comments.[63] According to Phelps, members of the Westboro Baptist Church helped run Gore’s 1988 campaign in Kansas. Phelps’ son, Fred Phelps Jr., hosted a Gore fundraiser at his home in Topeka and was a Gore delegate to the 1988 Democratic National Convention.[15] Gore spokesman Dag Vega declined to comment, saying “We are not dignifying those stories with a response.”[64]

Yes, mea culpa. Your comment went to spam because of the number of links included.
The Phelps pic is, in hindsight, deceptive. I’d remove it, but don’t want you to think I’m changing my story.

A conservative site? Wha-what?! Maybe you didn’t do much checking into it before you wrote the comment. You’re forgiven.

Here’s the difference in your assertion and mine: The left has never had an entire cable news network or 90% of talk radio devoted strictly to its cause. The angry and violent rhetoric that comes from those two sources alone is enough to prove my point. When you add the tea bagger organization and politicians directlyt indirectly condoning this type of protest, then you have the kind of activity that is going liable to erupt.

And then, it finally, groaningly went bankrupt. It was teetering for YEARS. Because no one was listening. Because George Soros couldn’t afford to keep dumping millions into it to keep it afloat. Because listening to that statist shrew Janeane Garofalo and other America-bashing, hate-filled liberals was too much even for LIBERALS. If the network had been any good, it would have survived, because there are enough liberals in the country to have given it the revenue necessary to stay solvent. Free market – love it.

MSNBC and CNN are also Obama worshippers — Their viewership numbers are in the toilet. Because they LIE. Like you lie… karma’s a drag, huh? Combined, CNN and MSNBC’s numbers are lower than that of the Cartoon Network.

CBS gives conservatives about 10-15 percent of their time, ABC gives balance a shot once in a while (mainly because of Jake Tapper’s efforts). FOX News, the youngest of the Big Five, has been the most balanced of all. And now, its ratings are the highest of all of them. Five networks, only one with a majority of conservative views.

Smack yourself a bit (because you obviously need a reality check), reconsider that most conservative readers are educated than liberal ones, so are more than familiar with the issues you’re distorting (which you are not familiar with, duh), and maybe change this blog to “how to raise poodles for fun and profit” or “ballroom dancing tips for the bored housewife” something that else that isn’t so obviously over your sophomoric liberal head.

ROFL… Mistake? That horrible Sarah Palin effigy was all over the liberal media in October 2008, made the national news for a few days, was on many major newspapers front pages, and MSNBC thought it was all pretty funny. Just like you do now by trying to twist it into some bizarre Pelosi effigy.

You say “mistake” – every one else says “deliberate lie.” ROFL… liberals cannot figure out that when they lie, they’ll be caught. The “nudity” slam against Nice Deb was really clever… for a 12-year-old.

Love the title of this ignorant blog… how many lies a day do you rack up against conservatives or non-Obama worshippers?

You replaced your bogus Pelosi effigy picture with another bogus lie.

Dale Robertson is a notorious crank the tea party movement has rejected since Feb February of last year.

He has been described as a fake, a con artist, and worse by frustrated tea party groups across the land. Houston’s, in particular, is so upset at being associated with the man that they sent out the following press release:

    1. He is NOT a member of our Leadership team.

    2. He owns a website with which we have never been affiliated.

    3. He has never been a part of organizing any of the Tea Party rallies in the Houston area, or any other area that we can find.

    4. We addressed some issues involving him back in April. Here it is on our website, where Mr. Robertson himself comments: http://houstontps.org/?p=318

    5. We do not choose to associate with people that use his type of disgusting language.

Robertson and his publicist encourage the MSM to consider it a mere squabble between various factions involved in the tea party movement. But quick research on the internet shows that no one in the actual tea party movement wants anything to do with the man.

Needless to say, left-wing sites have been repeatedly drawing attention to him as an example of racism in the tea party.

    http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/dale-robertson-no-friend-of-ours/2/

    Keep digging.

    • March 29, 2010 11:32 pm

Kind of undermines the whole “it’s prevalent among the right, but isolated instances among the left” nonsense. Here’s a guy that is clearly isolated, being used to show prevalence. That’s quite a lie in itself.

Not to mention that I count 3 Phelps photos above, not just one. Then there’s the “Birthers as right wing haters” fallacy. Showing Birther pictures doesn’t support your case at all. In fact, this entire post has been far more damaging to the Left than to the Right.

    Well done.

    • March 30, 2010 9:19 am

Thanks Geoff for you comment. As usually, you righties are wrong.
The tea party may not claim robinson, but the right owns him. Further, the birthers are also righties (though I’m sure you’ll want to point out that a hillary supporter started it, it too now belongs to the right), liberals do not claim Phelps just because he claims to be a democrat. Hell, for all I know nice deb (misnomer) is a registered democrat, but that doesn’t make her a leftie.
You guys can justify all you want, buy the rhetroic of hate is coming from the right, and I’ll bet it doesn’t take too long before one of the loonies goes out and proves it again.

The tea party may not claim robinson, but the right owns him.

You already said that. Why don’t you try to address the argument that was made instead of repeating yourself? The Tea Party has rejected Robinson, and explicitly, repeatedly, rejected his message. Thus, he is exactly the sort of “isolated” case that you claim characterizes the Left. It also shows exactly how maliciously you are slandering the Tea Party, trying to accuse them of something that you already know they don’t support.

Any protest on behalf of a Lefty cause brings out all the usual suspects: anarchists, communists, anti-semitics, nudists, NORML supporters, etc. The fringies who attach themselves to the Tea Parties are of the same ilk.

Further, the birthers are also righties

Yes, sadly they mostly are. But that doesn’t make them haters, which is why pictures of them don’t support your argument. Truthers, on the other hand, are mostly lefties, and they certainly are haters.

We watched 8 years of the most awful, hateful spewage from the Left, even extending to blatant racism against members of the Bush administration. It was far more prevalent than it is now on the Right. In fact the real irony is this sort of post, where you try to dehumanize the movement to legitimize your own hate. That sort of thinking is everywhere on the Left (just watched Schultz and Matthews pushing that meme).

I’ll bet it doesn’t take too long before one of the loonies goes out and proves it again.

What do you want to bet a lib does it first? Your side is already way ahead in threats – they arrested Leboon yesterday. Oh yeah, and they found your side’s brick yesterday after it was thrown through the window of a GOP office in Michigan.

Our guys will have to work hard to catch up.

    • March 30, 2010 10:31 am

I’m not repeating the argument, I’m saying your take on it is wrong. Robinson is a righty, and based on the vast amounts of photos and blogs and quotes he is not an isolated incident. There, is that on point enough for you. I don’t care if the Tea party wants him or not.

Again, you can be an apologist all you want, you can deny it all you want, you can point out some lefties all you want, but the facts are the facts and the facts say that the right has some issues with hate and violence right now.

You, like the other commenters are missing the forest for the trees. As I’ve pointed out already, I beleive that it is the minority of republicans that are buying into this culture, and fewer still that are acting on it. It is the loud vocal minority that is the problem AND the fact that people like you try to rationalize it, apologize for it or deny it.

I’d bet $10 you or someone you know have said or thought something like “if only the larger muslim community would speak out against this hate and violence, we wouldn’t think of terrorism as specifically a muslim issue.”

      well…

FRC: Deranged Video Threats Part of a “Clear Pattern of Intimidation” From Gay Activists
      Submitted by Kyle on March 31, 2010 – 8:31am

Earlier this week, a man named Norman Leboon was arrested for posting a video threatening to kill Rep. Eric Cantor and it was soon revealed that Leboon had made some 2,000 videos that contained pseudo-religious incantations with random warnings and threats, including videos that targeted President Obama, Vice President Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid as well as threats against judges, David Duke, and even against the movie “Babe.”

So it seems pretty clear to everyone that Leboon’s myriad of threats were most likely driven by some sort of mental illness … everyone, that is, except the Family Research Council which claims that Leboon’s threat against Cantor is part of a “clear pattern of intimidation that comes from many homosexual activists”:

Since their inception the Teaparty crowd (not a movement since they do have the numbers or clout) have been “haters not debaters”. In my opinion this is what the small portions of the republican party of “birthers, baggers and blowhards” have brought you. They are good at “Follow the Leader” of their dullard leaders, they listen to Beck, Hedgecock, Hannity, O’Reilly, Rush and Savage and the rest of the Blowhards. Are you surprise at what they do when you know what they think? The world is complicated and most republicans (Hamiliton, Lincoln, Roosevelt) believe that we should use government a little to increase social mobility, now its about dancing around the claim of government is the problem. The sainted Reagan passed the biggest tax increase in American history and as a result federal employment increased, but facts are lost when mired in mysticism and superstition. Although some republicans are trying to distant themselves from this fringe most of them are just going along and fanning the flames. Lets face it the Republicans had 8 years to deal with health care, immigration and financial oversight and governance and they failed. They could not even win one of the two wars they started, the body bags are still coming in. The Republicans wanted to give Obama his Waterloo defeat over healthcare but instead they gave themselves their own Waterloo defeat by not participating in the debate of ideas and by becoming the party of obstructionist. But they now claim they have changed, come on, what sucker is going to believe that?

the vast amounts of photos and blogs and quotes

Since you’re using Robinson, Phelps, and Birther cites for your case, you obviously don’t have “vast amounts” of anything. I, on the other hand, can bury you 10:1 with references showing leftwing hate. The only decent photo you’ve got is the “Brown-Browning” poster, and conservative blogs have been trying to find out who the hell those people are so that we can get rid of them.

There, is that on point enough for you.

No – it’s still a logical fallacy. Let me slow it way down for you: a hundred individual wackos do not make a trend. No matter how you add them up, they’re still individual wackos. Since they are “individual wackos,” by definition they cannot be indicative of trends in the group. Do Tea Party events attract wackos? Of course they do. Do liberal protests attract wackos? Of course they do, and in larger numbers and percentages than we see in Tea Parties.

I don’t care if the Tea party wants him or not.

Then I don’t care if libs want Leboon or not – you own him, which apparently makes you all violent, dangerous lunatics. At least by your version of logic.

I’d bet $10 you or someone you know have said or thought something like “if only the larger muslim community would speak out against this hate and violence, we wouldn’t think of terrorism as specifically a muslim issue.”

I’ll bet you $10 that statements or signs promoting violence or hate have already been criticized by conservative bloggers, media members, and politicians. Which, of course, they already have, so this point is moot. If that’s not good enough, let me help right now: “Tea Party signs with racist or violent implications are sick, inappropriate, and disgusting. They should be eradicated from the movement at the earliest opportunity.”

At the end of the day, all you’ve got is a mirror of your own faction. No scarier, no more common, no more dangerous. I’m done here – this was silly to begin with. Plus I can’t stand scrolling past all the Phelps’ photos you’ve gathered for your slander.

  10. March 30, 2010 12:14 pm

I believe I see your fundemental mistake now Geoff. You think this is about you… I mean the tea party. It isn’t. The tea party is part of it, sure, since there is more than just a few isolated incidents, but it is about the rhetoric of hate and violence from the right in general at this point in time. Limbaugh in the tea party? Coulter? Malkin?

And again, deny it all you want. I have lots and lots more, tons more, but, um… don’t you think the post is big enough already? I’m done trying to accomodate your already closed mind. The information is out there for you to find too. (I’ve already looked for the left… I don’t condone the advocation of violence against bush, but I don’t think public nudity quite compares to veiled and direct threats of violence or encouraging people to open rebellion from widely regarded and popular – in your circles – persons. How many top-hundred rated anarchist or nudist or NORML talk radio shows are out there? Oh yeah, NONE!)

But, back to my point here; this article is not about the tea party specifically. so get over yourselves.

What interests me is why some discriminated against groups do not become terrorists.

ConLie: I think your conservative commenters are missing the point. It’s not about who is or is not an official member of any movement. When talking about fringe elements, it is every bit as much about which party are they drawn to.

The birthers, the anti-Christers, the he’s-a-Muslin(sic) crowd and on and on – they are DRAWN to the Tea Party and they are DRAWN to the GOP. And no matter what the apologists are saying, they are tolerated except for a very few.

Just looks at how mainstream Republican politicians tip toed around these subject over the last year. They won’t come out and disavow these groups because they’re protecting their base and they want the votes. These people are NOT voting for Democrats.

Most indicted members of militia group are voters

    By TOM TROY
    BLADE POLITICS WRITER

Most of the indicted militia members accused of being anti-government extremists have active voting records, a check with area voter registration offices showed yesterday.

One is a registered Democrat, and the party affiliations of the rest could not be determined.

Jacob J. Ward, 33, of Huron, Ohio, voted as a Democrat in the 2004 and 2008 primary elections. He also voted in 10 other elections since 2000. Party affiliation in Ohio is determined by which party’s ballot they requested in the most recent primary election.

Alleged ringleader David Brian Stone, Sr., 45, of Clayton, Mich., registered in Lenawee County, Michigan, in 1998, and last voted in the 2004 general election.

His, and other Michigan voters’ party affiliations, if any, are not public records because of Michigan’s open primary elections, officials said.

Your a funny guy, how much do you pay your friends to come and vote your comment up? The only other places I have seen such distorted statements like the ones you’re making is from the White House, Democrats, and on Newsvine. You guys better get more material, because I could repeat all of the left wing propaganda rants , and I wouldn’t even need any teleprompter like our President Obama.

It must really feel good for you Democrats to have such an articulate souto-intellect like Obama as President? The only problem is the man speaks just as bad as what we had before. Keep kidding yourselves, all this guy can do is read a script that someone else wrote. Let him have an question an answer session and he mangles the English language just as bad as Bush did!

That’s the kind of hypocrisy that I’m talking about, the one that will call out the other party out but never their own. That’s the hypocrisy of party politics that is destroying our country from the inside. You folks from both sides that engage in this type of behavior are only hurting yourselves and eventually the whole country will fall just the way that the Puppet Masters had planned it. Wake up, we are all going to lose, and in the end they will win if we don’t put an end to this nonsense. Why not try to find solutions to our country’s problems as oppose to just fighting among ourselves. This is insanity!

      Look toosmall,
I don’t just repeat party line. I happen to believe whole heartedly in the liberal political platform.

And I do try to call them like I see them. In fact, if you read my post “drill baby drill” you may notice I call Obama out on removing the moritorium on off-shore drilling. He is wrong and I hope this last disaster puts him back on the right course in that regard.

You won’t find any thing in my blog about Bush not being articulate. I will call him out on politics though. I don’t even believe he made stupid decisions. I believe he is very smart, and used that intellect for the benefit of a certain class of individuals rather than for the nation as a whole.

  19. May 2, 2010 11:11 pm

Look there has been many mistakes made by both parties, nothing ever changes for the good of the people. They all make promises that they don’t keep. They win and we lose all the time, every single one of us. Bye the way, I’m not a Republican nor am I a Tea Party member. I follow no man, group or organization. They are all in it for themselves. I’m a Conservative with traditional values, that just about has had it with all the nonsense regardless of who’s in the White House.

I’m tired of being called a racist and a hate monger, just because I happen to disagree with the President and his administration. Typically the one who screams the loudest and complaints the most are normally the ones who practices what they accuse others of doing. Clinton, Carter, Napolitano and others are just as, or more guilty of making statements trying to portrait Americans who are exercising their Constitutional rights to assembly & free speech as if they were some how like terrorist. That is really sick and it only proves that they could careless as to what happens. They are trying to provoke people to react in a foolish manner so they can step in and put an end to the opposition. Which everyday that passes, their numbers grow greater.
